I decided to give the Amazfit Helio Strap a try after deciding not to renew my Whoop membership. With my veteran's discount, the Helio Strap is an affordable alternative to wearing the Whoop. Yet, I did not want to wear the Helio Strap on my wrist this time around.
In the past, I tried using the Bicep Band with my Whoop, but it didn't work for me. I do not remember why, but I ended up taking the Bicep Band off and kept wearing the Whoop on my wrist.
When I read that wearing any wearable on your bicep will give more accurate readings, I decided to give the bicep strap another try. Amazfit did not have any available at the time, so I went with a recommendation from Desfit and purchased this elastic wristband from Amazon for about USD 12. Unfortunately, this band was not wide enough for my bicep.
Yes, Amazfit just released the Arm Band for the Helio Strap, but if you happen to have an unused Whoop Bicep Band around, you can use that. It just involves the use of some scissors and a sewing machine.

Yes, I said scissors, so remember, once you cut into your Bicep Band, you can never sell it again. For me, I needed the bicep band, so I was okay cutting it for my use.

I took the parts from the elastic band I got from Amazon. It had enough pins and quick-release buckles to use with my new arm band. The trick is figuring out where to put the quick-release buckles on the strap before sewing.

Once I figured out which way to point the buckles, I then started sewing, leaving enough strap length in case I needed to widen it. Initially, I was going to sew, test it out for a day, and then take out the thread for a more professional stitching since I could not find my black thread. I ended up getting lazy since the stitch was strong.

Instead, I took a black permanent marker to color over the white thread. Yeah, that is called being lazy.

For about two weeks now, I have been able to use this strap on my bicep without needing to remove it. Still, it is not perfect. Twice now, I have found the strap falling down my arm because it cannot be tightened. I assumed this would be temporary anyway.
It worked, though, so I am happy and might as well post about it.
Yes, I will order the new Arm Band from Amazfit. I like the idea of making use of an old Bicep Band that I already own. It's incredible how much time it spends with the Helio Strap compared to the Whoop.
